there's something about ..... village people
I visited 2 famous villages in Singapore and went home with many things. I felt like a tourist. Damn Shiok!
Yesterday I went to Bugis Village with my family in toll, including my irritating maid. My mind is getting quite disturb lately. Sight of her irriates me. Let her stay home will make me happier. But the thought of her idling at home and not out with us, helping with our shopping bags makes me Buay Song. Nabeh...
Bugis Village is really quite good to shop. Armed with a 50 bucks budget, my objective is to maximise my marginal utility. Wah.. I very got ink!!
Anyway, after about an 1hr, I bought a $10 watch, a T-shirt... also at $10. And another casual shirt at $20. And I still got to save $10!
The salesperson where I bought the last casual shirt from told me price is not negotiable and they were fix-price. Nabeh.... In the past, I would have walk away without buying it. But now, I will suan them first, then buy it. I reckon My suanning would have cost about $5 in terms of ego, meaning the shirt cost me $15. Afterall, any discount is also to satisfy ego... I mean seriously 10% discount only save me $2, and you can't even buy a Wan Ton Mee with that nowadays. But we just like to negotiate, especially in places like Bugis Village.
Today I went Holland Village. I was in-between appointments and decided to check out Holland V.
It was great.
I went to Cho Lon. That place has a very calming effect on you. Even if you don't buy anything from them, you felt peaceful. Almost bought a book there... but decided to come back another day. Not too nice to use credit card to pay for something only $10.
Next, I went to Parisilk to check out electronics. Touch base with of the sales guy, nice chap.
After that, I went to Anthropology. Again, very therapeutic. Nice things but very expensive. I find joy in going to shops like that. You know you wouldn't buy cos it's ex... and you have no temptation to buy cos it's out of reach. It's like visiting a museum of interesting things but who buy things from museum anyway?
And today there's a flea market at Holland V. Mostly second-hand stuffs that you don't need, but I came across this stall selling new things at wholesale pricing, like photoframes etc. They happens to sell this table clock which was sold at Molecule for about $50, for only $15!!!!?!!!! Wah... now we know what obscene profit margin Molecule earns. I just have to buy it.
Went into Holland Shopping Centre on the third floor, I saw this corner shop selling CDs. Very small shop selling acid jazz, jazz, techno, house stuffs. The shop owner is very friendly, passionate about music and knowledgeable on his products. Almost bought 2 from him but his payment machines are not working and I have to pay cash. Bo bian..... bad for him. Good for me. Will pay him a visit another day.
Now, I feel damn recharged. Why spend 100 over on Spa treatments so that people can burn scented candles for you to smell, put mud on you while you can still feel recharged at half the amount, with things to bring back home?

there's something about ..... chinese idioms
Every day I will try to spew out some profound chinese idioms, firstly to demonstrate to my baby that his daddy is very bilingual. Secondly, to amuse myself.
Today I will teach you one such chinese idioms that I abused regularly.
陪了夫人又折兵
I will not touch on the origin of this, since from the look of it, you will roughly guess.... must be some king loses his concubine and lose his army.... somthing to that effect. But how to you use it in modern times where the only person that could lose his army but will not lose his wife is George Bush?
Anyway, will highlight a personal experience to demontrate the meaning and usage of this.
Last night, I had my dinner about 10pm. It was too much for me but I don't usually waste food. So I finished them off until almost vomit.
Anyway, everything was fine until I tried to sleep. It was about 12am but I couldn't sleep eventhough I was dead tired because I kept burping and keep feeling that the food is coming out of the throat.
So I decided to sleep sitting up. My wife suggested that I should go drink Yakult.
I told her that by the time I walk down to the fridge, drink my yakult, walk back up to bed, I will be too awake. And I don't want to be too awake, I want to sleep.
For a good 1 hour plus, I was there sitting up, not falling into deep sleep but more napping. I decided.... Heck... since also cannot sleep, might as well go drink Yakult.
Decided to drag myself down to the kitchen.
Ninabeh..... to my horror... YES.. it's HORROR.... there's no more Yakult!!!!!
I ended up in my room feeling more awake than before and still having my indigestion.

there's something about ..... competition
Wah Biang. I dunno what to say.
I wish he didn't go on the show, but at the same time, I had hope that he won. Nabeh, he miss out winning the 50k by just 2 secs!!!
That is the most expensive 2 secs ever.
I must say he had done Singapore proud... but then again... is he a Singaporean? Nabeh, even in reality TV, we need foreign-born player to represent Singapore.
He was asked what language he speaks... he replied ".... taiwan...." Great... now american would think Singapore is in Taiwan.
The day before, I was watching US Open in the morning between Agassi and Blake. It's weird seeing Agassi in Addidas attire. It's like Michael Jordan wearing Puma. Unthinkable.
I watch the game.... 1st Set... 6-3 to Blake. Nabeh. I was of course rooting for my Tennis Idol, agassi.
2nd Set... 6-3 to Blake, again.
I decided it's too painful to watch and I off the TV.
KNNB. I miss out one of the best comeback game ever... with Agassi winning it in 5 sets in a tie-breaker last set somemore.
I cannot believe it. In professional sports, that is super-choke big time. I bet if I'm given 2 sets handicapped by Agassi, he would still have beaten me in 5. Meaning to say, I'm not any worse off than blake. That is to say, Blake is damn condemn!!
I wonder which is worse.... Allan Wu missing out on US$50k in 2 seconds, or Blake losing the match in this manner.

there's something about ..... names
They like to come up with bombastic names for certain town planning concepts that either costs them $400000 for the same name, or technically wrong name, or bad acryomns for certain schemes.
Let's not go back to how government spend $44,444 per alphabet so that these branding expert could come up with "Marina Bay" which we were using it for many years.
But this week, JTC launches this Massive Project near Buona Vista where the Bio-tech industries are located. This massive project will house 20,000 condo units plus offices plus whathaveyou that will take 20 years to be fully developed.
It's located Somewhere between Queenstown and Clementi on the Southern side of Singapore.
This Massive Town Concept is called
“ONE NORTH”
HELLO!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!
Is it just me…… but shouldn’t this project be known as “ONE SOUTH” or “ONE SOUTH-WEST”?!?!?!?!?!?
I bet JTC spend couple of hundred thousands to this same Branding company to come up with this name. How else will you explain that they conveniently use the first letter of “North Buona Vista Road” and named it One North. Like they conveniently use Marina Bay and named it Marina Bay.
At least named it “ONE BUONA” or “ONE VISTA” or really desperate “ONE ROAD”
Today our dear MAH BOW TAN, you know that minister that invented COE and ERP back then, and decided that perhaps managing public housing is more interesting as it affects 80% of Singaporean and thus he can play GOD, announces a new scheme call DBSS. It stands for Design, Build and Sell Scheme.
This is HDB flats build by private developers.
Ah Meng: Hey Klang…. you stay in which type HDB huh?
Me: I stay in that DBSS lor.
Ah Meng: Wah you very rich hor…. so which branch of DBS you stay?
Me: No… not DBS…. but DBSS.
Ah Meng: Wah… you very can hor…. anyhow add one S to DBS.
Me: No…. not I add one…. Mah Bow Tan add one.
Ah Meng: So you stay in which type HDB huh?
Me: Nabeh.

there's something about ..... Project Superstar Winner

superstar winner
So he won.
And who is the biggest loser..... the 500,000 people who called in to vote.
The biggest winner...... The producers of the competition. They sold albums and they managed to "con" people into making those phone calls, and indirectly making a profit.
But the winner has been "declared" even the final started. Not so much thru the results of the album sales which show the Kelvin having sold more albums. But with the coverage of the Finals being rather uneven with more coverage of Kelvin, you know Kelly has no chance at all.
The Wan Baos, The Sin Mings and the Zao Baos, carry more coverage of Kelvin and they are news worthy coverage that you know Kelvin would have won more sympathy votes immediately.
Now... sympathy is a dirty word here. Fans of Kelvin has bombarded anyone that says Kelvin won it because of Sympathy. They said he won it because he is a better singer.
I can only agreed that when he sings.... he send goose-pimples to everyone, including me. He is fantastic in singing sad songs. My mum is a big fan.
Whether he is a better singer overall, that is debatable. Kelly is an equally good singer and she could sing a wide range of songs. Yesterday the judges with no voting rights have given her the thumps up for 4 out of 5 categories.
But if sympathy is a dirty word, then how would one explain the high coverage of Kelvin being blind, feeling stress, cried during rehearsal, production crew crying with him etc etc. That is because everyone is touched by his perseverance, his determination. Naturally people would feel sorry for him, and most human beings will vote for him to support him.
Don't get me wrong here. Kelvin won the competition fairly. He did have more votes than kelly, his fan based may be wider, thus making him the rightful winner of a competition. Whether he will one day become a Superstar, his passage to it will be a tough one.
This is probably demonstrated by the recording contracts they each received.
Before the finals, it's being reported that both the winners will sign a recording contract with EITHER one of PLAY MUSIC or UNIVERSAL MUSIC.
Now, that is weird. Why not announce way before that winner will sign for A and loser will sign for B. Why EITHER.
Why couldn't such a decision being finalised before the Finals. Wouldn't any recording companies like to sign the Winner of a major competition? And if 2 companies are vying for the winner's contract, this can still be sorted out either via a toss of a coin, or a bidding. This was not carried out before the Finals.
The announcement of that was only made after Kelvin won the competition and the hosts announced that Kelvin will signed for PLAY MUSIC and KELLY for UNIVERSAL MUSIC, almost immediately after Kelvin was announced as the winner.
It looks to me that Kelly got a better recording contract with a Big Brand name, while I have never heard of PLAY MUSIC.
So my only conclusion is that, one of the recording company has a preference. And it's not too difficult to draw a further conclusion who has that Superstar Quality.
So, I think yesterday so-called "Final" is meaningless. Kelvin do not need a be crown the Main Winner to sell albums. Kelly do not need to be crown to sell albums. They are already winners.
So is Mediacorps.

there's something about ..... getai
Guess I'm not old enough to enjoy seeing ugly singers in mid-drift tops and horrible voices singing ah lian songs.
But then... how can I pass such judgement if I have never being to one?
The part on ugly singers..... from newspaper.
The part on horrible voices.... heard live from my neighbourhood.
There are more getais in Old Matured Estate like Ang Mo Kio and Toa Payoh than in places like Buangkok. Heck.... in Buangkok... you need to put up signage of white elephants to make the place crowded... how to have getai there?
But over in Ang Mo Kio is different. You have a Getai on Ave 5, Ave 1, Ave 3, ave everywhere. Does that mean there are more ....erhem..... in Ang Mo Kio?
CHOY!!!!
Every year, you don't need to know what's the most popular songs from TOP 10 shows on Radio Channels or MTV. Essentially, every July is like the official countdown for the most popular songs from July to July.
I remember last year.... this Song was Blasting from my neighbourhood Getai and I can hear the every enuounciation of every word coming out of the Ah Lian singer.....
"小 微..........."
Nabeh... that song was not only popular from July 2003 to July 2004... it was also the top song the year before. I heard it for 2 consecutive years.
But this year, the most popular song, as chosen by the panel of Getai organisers which from 30% of the votes and SMS votings from Singapore Union of Getai Ah Lian Singers (SUGALS) which form the remaining 70% is .......
"老鼠爱大米......."
Nabeh.

there's something about ..... reckoning
Today I discover a key and important difference between a Black Carrot Cake and White Carrot cake, at least the one at Bishan Junction 8.
After I bought the black carrot cake back to our table, I ask my wife this question...
Me (the reckoner): Do you know what ........between a black carrot....and a white carrot cake?
My wife (the reckonee): Different way of frying?
Though that answer was the second most obvious observation other than the colour, I didn't think anyone could come up with any intelligent answers.
The key difference is that the black carrot cake, they only use 1 egg. The white one... they use 2!!!! Both for the same price!!!!!! Nabeh!!
Of course, that seller probably say... "I got put black sauce for your black carrot cake ok.." But... an extra egg???
I must send my blog to CASE and ask for 30 cents refund.
Today, I finally bought a new LCD TV for my living room. A modest 32 inch LCD TV. I have been waiting for the price to fall and I was actually waiting for SHARP AQUOS 37 Inch TV to fall below 4k. But I realised that is not going to happen anytime soon. So I decided to settle for a 32inch panasonic instead. More affordable lah.
No choice lah.. my SONY TV finally broke down on National Day. After 15 years!!!
I told my maid this TV has served us for 15 years and she exclaimed, "Wah.. when you small boy until now ah" Nabeh. She should learn how to keep quiet.
The worst thing about buying this TV is that I'm still not convinced which is better... plasma or LCD. Even after I have decided LCD is the way to go, I couldn't decide between the different technologies developed by different brands. Nabeh. Why can't a TV be like a TV? Whether you buy a Sony tube TV or a Akira tube TV, both uses the same technology.
I think I'm the only 32 years old guy who watches Project Superstar. That, even after I condemn the show some time ago.
But today was the result for the male and female winner. 2 weeks later, both will go on a faceoff and 1 winner will be determined.

male winner

female winner
While there is nothing much to dispute about the female winner (both were good), the male winner came as a surprise as he is blind. He beat a fellow contestant who looks like Ekin Cheng or Noodle Cheng that sings equally well and equally humble guy. The loser would have been a better "superstar" material.
Try telling that to my mum.
My mum could have been the judge at Project Superstar.
Because long before this Project Superstar was even conceptualised, my mum has been a fan of the male winner when he was buskering outside waterloo temple. My mum would come back home from each visit to the temple and says how fantastic this guy could sing.
Might as well ask my mum to pick the male winner. No need to go thru all these drama.
And might as well ask me to pick the female winner. I will pick the prettiest. No need to go thru all these drama either.

there's something about ..... National Day
Fell asleep in the first 15 mins of NDP 2005. And caught the snippets from news earlier and one thought came to me.....
If they had used footages from 5 years ago (the last time NDP was held at padang), they would have fooled me. Didn't they have the whole sequence of song and dance about how-singapore-progress-from-1965-till-now thingy every year?
Went out this afternoon... realised everywhere was very quiet. I thought... wah... Singaporean very patriotic... all stay home getting ready to watch NDP on TV. Or.... they are either at Padang, Tampines, Yishun, Jurong East, Marina South for the NDP thingy.
But I was wrong.
They were all at Singapore Expo for the John Little Warehouse Sale. Me inclusive.
Nabeh. Damn crowded.
I dunno what's with Singaporean. We seems to be sucker for any Branded Departmental Store so-called "Warehouse" sale held not in a warehouse but at a far away exhibition hall, selling dated goods at price just 20 to 30% cheaper. While you could actually go to the actual departmental store located more conveniently in town and buy recent goods at 20% discount. So what's the logic?
Logic is KA CHING JIO.
The worst thing is we never seems to learn.
The first-ever Warehouse sale by another affiliated Departmental Store was, "OMFG, this is fantastic!!"
The second Warehouse sale a few months later was,
"This is not too bad"
The third Warehouse sale a few months later was,
"Wah... same old thing.... next time don't come already"
The fourth warehouse sale a few months later was,
"Nabeh... already say don't come, still come, ka ching jio!!"
And how about this.... since kenna sabo by the lousy merchandise at not so good discount by major departmental store, might as well kenna sabo twice over. Held in the same premises is SPORTS LINK warehouse sale.
SPORTS LINK has been celebrating their anniversary sale at all their outlets over the national day week. Over at the AMK outlet, you get to buy their latest apparrels at 40% off. I decided to skip it thinking that warehouse sale may just offer better discount, or at worse, same discount but with more merchandise since they say "Warehouse", so must be big.
Nabeh. It was probably the smallest Sports Link "outlet" ever... and they were selling dated merchandise...... and there aren't any recent merchandise. I mean who buy LOTTO Polo shirts, or DIADORA Polo Shirts, or YONEX Polo Shirts nowadays?
Next time won't go again.

there's something about ..... huang na's case
And by then, the case was half way through and interest for the case wane. Who watches a movie half way through?
Not to mention there were more interesting news during those times.
For example.... the ipod vs Zen Micro. To battle the popularity of the IPOD U2 limited edition, Creative came out with a limited edition of Zen Micro with SIM WONG HOO's signature. Ni Na Beh. No wonder share price drop by half and needs Microsoft to bail him out.
Next, we were told that the name Marina Bay will be renamed.... Marina Bay. Such $400,000 stupidity (2/3 peanut) cannot escape bloggers' attention and everyone talks about it.
So you see... where got chance to read Huang Na murder case.
However, something did get my attention about the case. Is it just me but... Took (ah Hao) is being represented by that famous lawyer, which is an Indian. His psychiatrist is also an indian. The prosecutor's psychiatrist is also an indian.
Only the prosecutor is a chinese.
Like that Took sure die lah. How to communicate?!?! No wonder Took doesn't want to be on the witness stand.
How can a psychiatrist perform their best analysis on a complicated issue like
schizophrenia when there is language barrier? Surely getting a translator will have only 80% accuracy at best.
Not to sound too demeaning to the profession, but I think it's quite easy to be a psychiatrist. You just have to have logic. And often, you get the impression that all they do is listen to their patients on a chasis lounge like in most movies.
You would have realised that most of their analysis uses derivation. Like because he sometimes smile in court, therefore he has strains of a schizo. He believes 3 men killed hung na and not him, sometimes he knows he killed her, thus he is a schizo. Things like that.
It's like to any layman, if we hear things like that from the defendant, we, normal human beings, will immediately say..."He Siao Ah".
You see... we are not too far wrong from these experts.

There's something about ..... closure
I don't mean those road closures near the Padang last weekend for the upteemth times they were having rehearsals.
I have finally had my closure because I conquered the bad traffic around the Suntec City area, coming from the north where I stay. I understood those living in the east or west that plys the ECP are not affected by those road closures.
But just because I stay in the north shouldn't mean I should be further penalised from patronising my favourite mall on weekends. I have already being penalised with more ERP gantries just because of some silly town planning by URA.
I managed to find a way to go Suntec and it was a breeze. It was even faster than before. And now I wish they have NDP rehearsal for 2006 every weekend starting from 10 August.
I'm super glad. Not only that, the place is half as crowded. For once, all dining options at the Fountain are available. I have never seen that area so quiet before. In the past, after walking one round, we often ended up at Country Mana. Now, we walk 2 rounds and we couldn't decide what to eat.
So my wife and I decided to eat at NYDC.
And to wrap up an fantastic evening, I met with something amusing as well.
As friends would know it, I probably have a mild Irritational Bowel Syndrome. I said probably because I have a 90% probability of visiting toilet right after a dinner.
And I notice that this may also be a Gemini problem because Jeff seems to have the same problem as me though my problem could be seen as more acute.
So, right after NYDC, I head towards the toilet.
There were only 2 cubicles for BIG business and I have a 50% market share.
I noticed the chap next to me were there for a while.
A short while later I started my business, my neighbour's friend came to look for him in the toilet....
Chap's friend (shouting): SAM, 你肚子不舒服?
Sam (sounding super irritated that now everyone in the toilet knows the person LAO SAIing is called SAM) : YEAH LAH.
Chap's friend: Ok
I'm glad I dun have moronic friends. Or should I be sad that I dun have caring friends.
But Nabeh... What else can he be doing in the toilet?!?!??!?!?! Want to wank also must see location. I do not see anyone feeling turn-on with the kind of smell coming from my cubicle.
Anyway, I wanted to get out quick to see how Sam looks like but too bad... my business was still expanding.

there's something about ..... zoe tay vs SPH
As usual, SPH is represented by Senior Counsel Davinder Singh. Zoe Tay's representing Counsel is not named as it wasn't necessary.
Davinder Singh (DS): Did you or did you not give birth to a baby boy?
Zoe Tay (Zt): Oh.. yes.. I name him after brav...
DS: Please answer Yes or No.
ZT: Yes.
DS: Did you or did you not have big breast full of milk?
ZT: 2 Big Breasts for your information.
DS: Is it true that you have too much milk that you actually called your doctor to offer him some for his patients?
ZT: Yes.
DS: And what else did you do to your milk?
ZT: I sell them in bottles which I autographed on in ebay
DS: Did you try to use those unsold milk to wash your face?
ZT: Well... I ......
DS: Please answer Yes or No.
ZT: Yes.
DS: If one has so much milk, would a normal person still need to buy powder formula for their baby?
ZT: Depending...
DS: Please answer Yes or No.
ZT: No
DS: So I take it that your baby has not tried the formula you were advertising for.
ZT: But that formula is for 6 ....
DS: No answers needed.
DS: Is it true that you told the papers that you did not shower during your confinement period?
ZT: Yes..
DS: So you lied in your spa advertisement when you said "Contrary to What everyone says, I did bathe during this time (confinement period). Just once a day."
ZT: No, what I really meant is that I wiped myself down with a tower every day, not exactly a shower or bath.
DS: So you lied about the golden taps... sorry wrong case,.... so you didn't bathe at all even though you said you did in the spa advertisement?
ZT: I meant...
DS: Please answer Yes or No.
ZT: Yes.
DS: Do you know that slimming pills are not suitable for nursing mothers?
ZT: Yes.. but I wasn't...
DS: So during the time when your son is drinking breast milk, you were on slimming pills?
ZT: Those aren't fresh...
DS: Just answer Yes or No.
ZT: Yes.
DS: So don't you agree that you are sending out wrong signals to the fans who supported you?
ZT: No, I don't agree...
DS: Finally, how much do you earn as a TCS top artiste?
ZT: Peanut.
DS: To cut this blog short, do you want to withdraw the case against SPH?
ZT: Ok.
P/S: I'm a fan of Zoe Tay until The slimming Pill advertisement which is the most awful advertisement ever for all slimming products.

there's something about ..... best friend
Nabeh. My wish was granted.
Yesterday I brought this 36 years old Japanese plump Single lady to look for an apartment to buy. The condominium in question was a big one and I have arranged to meet one agent in one of the blocks.
I have been to that condo numerous times but seriously who can remember which block number is where. And it doesn't help that the condo has poor signages that doesn't allow me to walk in the correct direction.
So I venture towards my right to the pool area with the buyer.
Suddenly the buyer make an abrupt u-turn and and I almost lost her. So I traced my way back and saw her "hiding" behind some landscape. She told me that she couldn't walk that way because she saw somebody she didn't want to see there.
I almost wanted to do a cucumberz and ask her "who you didn't want to see?" but I was worried that knowing too much information may haunt me one day. In case, she was avoiding a white nissan sunny driver.
Me: What colour is his nissan sunny?
Fat woman: White.
Me calling Cucumbz : I saw the white nissan sunny driver in XXX Condo
Cucumbz call the acquaintance: The white nissan sunny is in XXX condo
acquaintance come to xxx condo with parang.
Next day headline "Property Agent witness murder"
You see, things like that which I didn't want to know. So being the professional that I am, I decided not to probe and we took a big detour to find that block, only to know the block was on the immediate left of where we started.
On the way to the block, she finally revealed on her own accord as she probably thinks there was a need to explain her action.
Apparently, she saw the ex-boyfriend of her best friend who is a Singaporean.
I can understand if that was her ex-boyfriend.... but anyway, I showed her the apartment and she fell in love with it.
She wanted to take it up immediately but because I have already arranged other units elsewhere to show her, she decided to make her decision until she sees everything.
At the end of the viewings, she told me that she really like that unit and will just inform her best friend about it, just to be sure her best friend is cool about it.
THAT BITCH!!
That bitch was very upset about it and didn't want my client to go ahead. So my client told me that she couldn't take up the unit due to respect for her best friend.
THAT SELFISH BITCH!!!
I couldn't believe my ears. I thought things like these are only found in Taiwanese drama like 青青河边草.
I wanted to burst the deal further by telling my client to act her age. She is 36 years old... not 16!!!
Nabeh!!! I couldn't believe that I lost the deal because of poor directional signs in the condo!!!

there's something about ..... nkf vs sph
- There is really a Surname called LONG.
- Davindar Singh is aided by an assistant by the name of Adrain Tan. He is the author of TEENAGE TEXTBOOK and TEENAGE WORKBOOK fame. Remember Paya Lebar JC?
- The Patron of NKF probably feel that there's a need to patronise the court proceedings. Since she is not involved in the "Day to Day operation" of NKF, she needs to patronise.
- Susan Long being a co-defendent to the case was also reporting the case as a journalist. Talk about conflicting of interest.
- The person who spray Graffitti on NKF building must be a Hokkien.
- SQ Business Class is more expensive than first class of other airlines.
- Charity bosses need to travel overseas for business. I wonder why... perhaps to check out new taps?
- peanuts = $600,000. I should be getting sunflower seeds.
- Salaries are not revealed because they were afraid there might be difficulty recruiting..... what nonsense.... Now everyone wants to be CEO of NKF.
- The most idle person in Court is Michael Khoo.
- This saga received 3 times more coverage than Huang Na Murder case.
- Litigation cases is not about open-ended question like....
"Please describe the condition of your toilet?" It's not even about multiple choice question like "Is the condition of your toilet a)very good b) very very good c)very very very good" It's about TRUE or FALSE.

there's something about ..... the car hunt
Participation is the wrong word. All I did was cut newspaper, go there, caught in the traffic jam for an hour, squeeze among the thousands who were there. Wait another an hour and a half (for me), listen to some bad music, they did a lucky draw for the car, not me, I go back, caught in another jam. Half day gone. Participation is the wrong word, the correct word would be KA CHING JIO.
The riddle was easy:
Where the sun rises
By the Sea
From Seven to Eleven
Ronald eyes a perfect game.
Too easy. The location is East Coast Parkway behind Macdonald. When is that easy, many more people will know. And in a prominent location like this, even passer-bys would have seen the stage setup few days before and knew this would be it.
I hesistated about going. But I thought, I have already spent so much time cutting out the papers in the last 15 days, I owe it to myself to at least make my way there and hope no one else other than me is smart enough to know it's there.
When I was at Still Road and my car couldn't move a inch per minute, I knew why they call this Still road. I hesistated about continuing the journey. But I thought, I have already spent 30 mins getting caught in the Jam, I owe it to myself to at least make my way there and hope all the others on Still road is not going to the Car Hunt, but maybe they are going somewhere else.
So I took the smart way out of the jam, I reckon probably it won't be easy to find a lot in East coast Park, so I decided to park at the HDB estate in Marine Parade and walk the underpass over.
The underpass was crowded. I again hesistated. But I thought I'm so near to the destination. I owe it to myself to try my luck on the car.
The place is too damn crowded and it looks like there are couple of thousands of people there. I knew immediately I made a wrong choice to go there. But WHAT IF.... WHAT IF my KA CHING is really not itchy and it's my destine to win a car?
SPH set up a stage there where bands were performing to "entertain" the crowd.
NI NA BEH!!
It's a "MAT ROCK" festival. They have bands after bands of "rock" singers performing. It would have been bearable if they have engaged Singapore Idols quarter-finalists. And these "rockers" sucks. Given a crowd of thousands and they probably felt like they were having a sell-out concerts.
Apparently, these were finalists of SPH School of Rock competition.
Another unusual thing happen, on 3 occasions when I was minding my own business, standing there reading my New Paper, strangers approached me and ask...
"Hi, where can I find the box to submit my entry form?"
I don't understand. I was READING. I wasn't standing there staring into space and looked like a Customer Service Officer for SPH.
After getting irritated by traffic jams, and bad screaming the whole morning... they finally announce the lucky winner of that Mazda 6 at noon.
Of course it's not me. People who complaint often do not get rewarded. They deserved to be irriated by traffic jams and bad screaming.
For your information, SPH school of Rock Finals would be held at Junction 8 next Saturday. Don't say I never warn you.

there's something about ..... that $990 golden tap
$25000 per month salary!!!
12 months bonus!!!
$600,000 per year!!!
$1.8m in last 3 years!!!
8 fleet of cars with chaffeurs!!!
Travel in first class.. wait let me rephrase... travel in first class in other airlines from his business class benefits from Singapore Airlines.
Ni Na Beh.
I'm not going to donate to this particular charity as long as this guy is still the chief executive.
And that also explain why I kept receiving calls from Indian soundalike telemarketeers from this organisation, because this call centre is setup by him in India.
Conspiracy!!! Now I know why this same organisation held their quarterly charity shows last 2 weekends. Just so that the donations will not drop prior to the court case.
No names are given here because this guy have the tendency to sue. Remember he wanted to sue the sender of an email that went rounds years ago and he went to the extend of getting the ISP to trace the senders, but he subsequently let them off in a warning.

there's something about ..... that movie we watched
Watching movie with my wife is always interesting. She kinda lost touch with what's happening in the movie circuit, and I will just bring her to see the movie without telling her what's it all about. She knew is a Tom Cruise movie after seeing the trailers but that's all she knows.
And she doesn't like to ask what's the show about BEFORE the movie. She likes to ask DURING the movie.
When the "Aliens" made the first appearance in the show,
she ask: What's that.
Me: Aliens
She: Is It?!?!?! I thought this show is about War?
Me: .......
Actually I kinda like the show. This show is actually not about Aliens attacking the Earth. It's actually about fatherhood with the Aliens drama as a backdrop.
And I actually feel for the character Tom Cruise was portraying. If this doesn't win him the Oscar, I think he can give up acting for good. It's not often you can say Tom Cruise could act, especially with such intensity.
I think why I feel for the character is because I'm now a father. A parent's love for their kid is not something you can't put to words. But in any calamity, your love for the kid is unparrellel.
A friend of mine was telling me about the Tsunami. There was this article about a caucasian woman running back to the shore to save the son. My lady friend commented that even die, she will die with the children.
Anyway, the show also struck me for something else.
Nabeh... not everyone is like Tom Cruise. Run and Run and Run. I realised if Ang Mo Kio is under attack by Aliens (I dun mean my brother in law), I probably will not be able to carry Ian and run more than 2 blocks.
No matter how much you can love your kid. In situations like this, your heart is willing but your flesh is not.
Like that, die liao lah.
I better keep myself fit and start jogging, which I hate. Or I can go borrow Lily's new bike once she is bored with it.
In Yoda fashion: New toy it is, bored she will be in 1 month it is.
